Cupcake Icon
A step-by-step tutorial on how to draw a cupcake icon in Photoshop.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Open a new document. Set width/height to 300x300 for a good working area.
2. Create a new layer. Name it "Circle".
3. Select the Eliptical Marquee tool.

4. Hold down the SHIFT key and draw a perfect circle selection.

5. Choose a dark pinkish color.
6. Select the Paint Bucket tool.

7. Fill in the circular selection with dark pink.

8. Create a new layer. Name it "Frosting".
9. Select the Pen Tool.

10. Make sure "Paths" option is selected in the Options Bar.

11. Draw a path for the frosting of the cupcake similar to the path shape below:

12. Select the Path Selection tool.

13. Right click the "frosting" shaped path. Then select "Make Selection" from the pop-up menu.
14. The "Make Selection" box will appear. Click OK to accept the default of feather: "0".

15. Your frosting shape should now be a selection. Select the Paint Bucket tool.
16. Choose a light pink color.
17. Fill in the selection with light pink.

18. Click Ctrl+D to deselect.
19. Create a new layer underneath the "Frosting Layer". Name this new layer "Cup".
20. Select the Pen Tool.
21. Draw a path for the cup.

22. Right click the "cup" shaped path. Then select "Make Selection" from the pop-up menu.
23. The "Make Selection" box will appear. Click OK to accept the default of feather: "0".
24. Select the Paint Bucket tool.
25. Choose a light yellow color.
26. Fill in the selection with light yellow.

27. Create a new layer above the "cup" layer. Name this new layer "Cherry".
28. Select the Eliptical Marquee tool.
29. Hold down the SHIFT key and draw a perfect little circle selection for the cherry.

30. Select the Paint Bucket tool.
31. Choose red as your color.
32. Fill in the circle selection with red.

33. Right click the "Frosting" layer in the layers palette. Select "Blending Options..." from the pop-up list.
34. Set the properties for "Stoke" to the following:

35. Set the properties for "Inner Glow" to the following:

36. Click OK to close out and return to image.

37. Right click the "Cherry" layer in the layers palette. Select "Blending Options..." from the pop-up list.
38. Set the properties for "Stoke" to the following:

39. Click OK to close out and return to image.

40. Right click the "Cup" layer in the layers palette. Select "Blending Options..." from the pop-up list.
41. Set the properties for "Stoke" to the following:

42. Click OK to close out and return to image.

43. Select the Paint Brush tool.

44. Choose a small size brush (ie. 5px).
45. Choose white as your color.
46. Click the "Cherry" layer in the layers palette so it is the active layer.
47. Paint in a white highlight on the cherry.

48. Click the "Frosting" layer in the layers palette so it is the active layer.
49. Choose a blue color and paint blue sprinkles over the frosting.
50. Choose a yellow color and paint yellow sprinkles over the frosting.

51. Click the "Cup" layer in the layers palette so it is the active layer.
52. Select the Paint Brush. Choose black as your color.
53. Draw 5 black lines coming down from underneath the frosting.

54. Click the "Circle" layer in the layers palette so it is the active layer.
55. Right click the "Cup" layer in the layers palette. Select "Blending Options..." from the pop-up list.
56. Set the properties for "Stoke" to the following:

57. You're done! You should now have your cupcake graphic!
